Fraud Prevention in Public Sector Organizations

Abstract Preventing Fraud in Public Sector Organizations By Maya Nichelle Douglas Master of Public Administration, Public Sector Management and Leadership The purpose of this research is to identify the loopholes present in public sector organizations that are breeding grounds for fraudulent activity through the distribution and receipt of goods and services. While public sector organizations offer much needed support for needy families, they are also subject to inefficiency, dated processes and poor management. This research will examine the accountability and oversight necessary to minimize and deter the occurrence of fraud in public sector organizations. Face-to-face interviews will be conducted to explore the challenges to preventing fraud and the pitfalls therein to further research and data on the subject. Furthermore, it will delve into the steps necessary to protect public sector organizations from fraud both internally and externally.
