The deaths of unarmed black people at the hands of police officers around the U.S. have become the most talked about racial topic in recent United States history. This descriptive research paper explores the number of articles pre Black Lives Matter and Post Black Lives Matter. Racially charged issues between blacks and law enforcement prior to Black Lives Matter (August 26, 2011 - February 27, 2012) compared to the death of Trayvon Martin (February 2, 2012 - September 27, 2012). The purpose of investigating New York Times; which represents the East Coast, USA Today; which represents the South, Tampa Bay Times; which also represents the South, and Washington Post; which represents the West Coast articles was to investigate how much media attention was given to this matter prior to Black Lives Matter and post Black Lives Matter in all four corners of the United States.
